On-Screen Keyboard Disappears When the Scanner Connects
Why did my on-screen keyboard disappear?
When the scanner connects by Bluetooth, your phone or tablet treats it as a physical keyboard and hides the on-screen one. Quickly press the scan button twice to show it again.

Why it happens
ScanAvenger scanners work like a keyboard. When a phone or tablet detects a keyboard over Bluetooth, it hides the on-screen keyboard to save space, just as it would with any Bluetooth keyboard.
Show or hide the keyboard
- Tap the text field you want to type in.
- Quickly press the scan button on the scanner twice. The on-screen keyboard appears.
- To hide it again, quickly press the scan button twice more.
If it doesn't work
- Check that the status light is solid blue, which means the scanner is connected.
- Press the button twice a little faster, without scanning a barcode in between.
- If you don't need the scanner for a moment, turn off Bluetooth on your device and the on-screen keyboard comes back.
